I think babies are exactly like adults only without the speech thing figured out. They are always telling us what they want (and for sure what they don’t want), we just don’t always know how to listen. Little miss Chloe was not impressed with me, and why should she be? I show up, a stranger with a big black contraption much to close to her precious face and she’s supposed to fall into a gentle sleep upon her hard dresser? Really? Even though she wasn’t my biggest fan that day we managed to capture some stunning images of all her sweetness. She did incredibly well and I am so thrilled to share these images of her and her family. Thank you Robin & Eric for your patience, she is amazing and I am so glad I got to meet her!

I was recently introduced to the sweetest tiny toes little girl. She is a doll with the most beautiful intense eyes. Although she didn’t show me any smiles during our shoot, I am assured that her smile is just the best and she showed it off the rest of the day after I left. That always happens! That’s ok. I still really love the keen and curious looks babies often share with strangers. Kid’s don’t always smile and sometimes a mother’s favorite look is a serious one…

portland senior portrait photographer………senioritis!

I get these terribly frantic calls from so many parents and kids this time of year when they realize that they have forgotten to get their senior (not the elderly but the college bound) portraits done. They are too late on the yearbook image but still need to get their wallets back into the grad announcements before they are sent out, which by the way is next week. “Can you help me??” they ask with despair in their voices. Somehow we always make something work out for them. I would love nothing more, however, than to give you a little breathing room with your senior portraits. Booking early, like now if you have a junior, can really relieve some unwanted stress later. I am not one to preach on being organized, but being a mom of three with very different schedules I can totally relate. So plan a bit ahead of yourself and call me to set up your senior’s session. Local senior sessions are only 200, or you can add a little excitement with an extended location like the beach or even out of state! Ever thought of about a destination senior shoot? Do you have a family vacation planned this summer? Invite me to tag along and we will create the most fabulous senior images that are truly unlike your friends’. Either way, we will find rockin’ locations with plenty of time to get your yearbook image in and print your favorite wallets to share.

Every year around birthday time I do a shoot of each of my children. Yesterday was Logan’s turn and she ran into the house with panic in her eyes “MOM!! They are tearing the barn down THIS WEEKEND!!!!!” We have a dilapidated century old barn on our farm that has been a fabulous backdrop for many a photo shoot. Year by year it has been falling apart. Right now it is more like day by day as we see new boards on the road daily. Logan has been looking forward to her eleven year old shoot there all year and when papa told her that it was going to have to come down this weekend, she panicked. She wanted to have her shoot in two places, number one was absolutely the barn. Number two, the dumpster. Yep, she chose to have her portraits done in front of the dumpster. Why? Because it is bright green and rusting out which lends to a really rad texture and design that as my daughter she just had to have in pictures.

She’s awesome and almost…ELEVEN!! Wow, that really went by fast! My oldest will officially be eleven in a few short days and I just can’t believe it (or maybe I don’t want to). She’s always been beautiful but man she’s getting gorgeous! Eleven is such a strange phase, in-be-tween a child and a teenager but not quite either. Wanting so much to not have the responsibility of a grown up yet desiring so much the privileges

Many a morning she spends in front of the mirror picking herself apart, piece by piece. My hair is frizzy, my face is ugly, I don’t like the way my smile looks…etc. It’s really too bad she can’t see how truly stunning and amazing she is! I constantly reassure her that she’s beautiful, smart, and fun but words don’t speak as loud as say a picture does…..

There is a row of daffodils beside my parent’s house that have been blooming every spring since my grandmother lived there (so as long as I can remember). My oldest daughter was born near the end of March and my youngest at the very beginning, just when my daffodils are beautifully blooming. So it’s no wonder I feel happy every time I leave the driveway in the springtime. They remind me of sunshiny smiles on my little girls faces. The change of season from our dreary Oregon winter to our luscious spring inspires me each year.

We had the best day @ Bridgeport Village yesterday for their “Very Engaging Bridal Event”. Crate and Barrel was amazing and graciously treated us like family allowing us to use their fabulous store and products as a platform to show off our work and meet with awesome couples.

my baby is almost 5!….Portland area portrait photographer…..

Really, I don’t want to accept that my youngest baby will be FIVE in just under a week according to her paper chain that adorns our wall. I am pretty sure yesterday she was wearing footie pajammies and couldn’t say her L’s. She tried to be born way too early and then finally arrived only two weeks ahead of schedule. She’s always been stubborn on her own schedule sleeping until almost 11am some mornings and refusing to go to bed at 10pm. Her eyes sparkle when she shows you a real smile and she’s quick to have white hot temper if crossed. With strawberry honey hair she is Irish to her bones.

Although this morning I woke up to the typical cloud cover and rain drops that fill most Oregon mornings in winter I also woke to find a very nice surprise…my new website is READY!!! I have been working on getting this up for a long silly time and now I can finally share it with you. There are so many new images up as well as a special vendor tab to showcase some of my favorite local peeps. *we just got back from the best trip to San Diego where we took these images of our good friends. The weather was perfect, 67 and a warm breeze. A much needed change of pace from our 37 and slightly hailing when we got back. Thanks so much for dragging the kids out to the beach, I am thrilled with the emotion we captured!!*
